Atractylodes Macrocephalae with Radix et Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori Tang has the efficacy of warming the yang and opening the meridians, dispelling wind and removing dampness (dispelling wind and dampness in the body), and is used to treat cold pain in the limbs caused by cold and dampness paralyzing the joints, unfavorable flexion and extension of the joints (the function of the joints to extend and bend abnormally), and inability to rotate the side of the joints by oneself.
The medicinal composition of Atractylodes Macrocephalae and Epiphyllum Tang is epiphyllum, ginger, Atractylodes Macrocephalae, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, and jujube.
Radix Angelicae Sinensis warms the meridians and collaterals, disperses cold and relieves pain (relieving pain by removing cold from the body); Radix Angelicae Sinensis disperses cold and resolves the symptoms; Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae tonifies qi and strengthens the spleen, dries dampness and induces diuresis (drying out dampness and reducing dampness in the body); Radix Jujubae Praeparatae and Radix Glycyrrhiza glabra tonify qi and tonify blood (replenishing the body’s qi and blood), and harmonize the various medicines (harmonizing the properties of different Chinese herbs). The combination of these herbs is effective in warming the yang, clearing the meridians, dispelling wind and removing dampness.
Atractylodes Macrocephalae Soup can be used to treat cold-damp paralytic joint obstruction, which manifests as cold pain in the limbs, unfavorable flexion and extension of the joints, and inability to rotate the side of the joints.
This formula should not be used in conjunction with Semen xia, Psidium guajava, Smallpox Powder, Ampelopsis, Bryonia, as well as Bayberry drugs. The adverse effects and contraindications of the drug are not known.
