Effectiveness of mugwort for polycystic ovaries

Polycystic ovaries in traditional Chinese medicine belongs to the “infertility”, “amenorrhea” and other categories, mugwort leaves are generally not used for the treatment of polycystic ovaries. Mugwort belongs to traditional Chinese medicine, for the chrysanthemum plant leaves, with warm menstruation to stop bleeding (warming the human body meridians, stop bleeding in the body), dispersing cold to relieve pain (through the elimination of the body’s cold to ease the pain), and external use of dampness and itching effect. It is mainly used for treating deficiency cold bleeding, irregular menstruation and dysmenorrhea. Caution should be exercised in cases of Yin deficiency and blood heat. Common causes of polycystic ovaries include kidney deficiency, spleen deficiency and phlegm-dampness (the spleen is weak, resulting in phlegm and dampness that cannot be dispelled), stagnation of qi and blood stasis (stagnation of blood due to lack of qi flow), and depression of the liver and transformation of fire (lack of qi flow in the liver resulting in the production of fire-heat and evil qi), etc. Suitable Chinese herbal medicines may be selected under the guidance of a TCM practitioner to identify the cause of polycystic ovaries. If medication is needed, it should be used under the guidance of a Chinese medicine practitioner, and should not be purchased and used on one’s own, so as to avoid delaying the condition by using the wrong medication. If there is any discomfort, please consult a doctor in time.
