PMS headaches are generally not amenable to nerve blocks. PMS headaches are often associated with premenstrual tension syndrome, which may be caused by a large release of prostaglandins in the body, or by abnormally high levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body during the premenstrual period, and should not be treated with nerve blocks at will. Nerve block therapy is good for cranial nerve and peripheral neuropathy, but is not recommended for premenstrual headache. Physical therapy can be used for premenstrual headache, such as head massage during headache, which can promote blood circulation, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as indomethacin and ibuprofen, can be taken if necessary. PMS headaches should be treated by a doctor in a timely manner.
