The main hazards to the body of intensified CT are the hazards to the body in terms of both radiation and contrast media. Although enhanced CT has certain side effects, they are relatively minor, and it is recommended that enhanced CT examinations be conducted reasonably under the guidance of a doctor.
1. Hazards of radiation: Enhanced CT has to be scanned several times in a row, and the radiation it receives is more than twice as much as that of ordinary CT, which may cause certain harm to the human body if enhanced CT examinations are performed more frequently. In general, 2 to 3 times a year for adults to do enhanced CT will not cause harm to the human body.
2. Harmful effects of contrast media: Injection of contrast media before the examination may damage the kidney function of the body. For normal people, the contrast agent can be metabolized smoothly and will not cause harm to the body. However, for patients with poor liver and kidney function, it may increase the metabolic burden and cause further liver and kidney damage.
Patients who are allergic to the contrast agent must inform the doctor before injecting the contrast agent, otherwise the allergy may cause headache, nausea, edema in mild cases, and shock in severe cases.
