Hypospadias surgery, or hypospadias repair, is a male surgical procedure to repair an abnormal urethral opening. Hypospadias repair is performed by choosing the appropriate position after which two parallel incisions are usually made on the ventral side of the penis to straighten the penis, a tunnel is made at the head of the penis and then stitched to make the urethra shape, and the wound is closed after the penis is straightened and the urethra is shaped. Hypospadias surgery is divided into three types of surgery depending on the proximity of the urethral opening, i.e., extending the urethra to the front of the glans by penile flap transfer, anastomosing the bladder mucosa to the urethra and extending the urethra to the front of the glans, and fusing the urethral mucosa to the buccal mucosa. This procedure is indicated for patients with hypospadias, and complications such as urethral fistulae, urethral strictures, and poorly corrected penile hypospadias often occur. This procedure is performed in a variety of ways, and patients should choose a surgical procedure for treatment under the guidance of a medical professional.
