How the antigen test is collected



Take the new coronavirus antigen test as an example. The collection steps include cleaning hands, cleaning nasal passages, sample collection, sample extraction, processing, testing, result interpretation and waste disposal.

1. Clean hands. Before antigen detection, attention should be paid to clean hands, can choose to use soapy water or disposable disinfectant wipes to strictly disinfect and clean hands.

2. Clean nasal cavity. Before the antigen test, the nasal cavity should be cleaned bilaterally, and clean tissues can be used to wipe the nasal mucus and nasal secretions.

3. Sample collection. Open the package of nasal swab, take out the nasal swab; tilt the head back slightly, hold the end of the nasal swab along one side of the lower nasal passages backward slowly into the depth of about 1~1.5cm, stick to the nasal cavity at least 4 rotations, the residence time should be not less than 15 seconds, the other side of the nasal cavity to repeat this operation.

4. Sample extraction. Open the cap of the swab treatment solution, put the swab after sample collection into the treatment solution, and rotate the swab vigorously to make it fully mixed with the treatment solution.

5. Processing. Break the head of the swab at the fold line, leave the head of the swab in the treatment bottle, and tighten the lid of the treatment bottle.

6. Testing. Fracture the cap of the bottle, remove the test card, invert the bottle vertically, put three drops of liquid into the sample hole and wait for fifteen minutes.

7. Interpretation: One line on the C scale means negative; two lines on the C and T scales are positive; one bar on the T scale means invalid.

8. Waste disposal. Negative test results can be disposed of as general garbage; positive results should be reported to the community immediately and wait for professional treatment.
