Neonatal jaundice repeatedly drops and rises, how to treat it

Jaundice in newborns rises and falls repeatedly, suggesting pathologic jaundice, and the treatment includes treating the primary disease and decreasing jaundice. 1. Treatment of primary disease: if it is caused by bacterial infection, antibiotic treatment can be used, such as cefixime; if it is caused by breastfeeding, it is not necessary to stop breastfeeding, but can be changed to a small amount of multiple feeding, and pay attention to dynamic observation. 2 Yellowing: including light therapy, drug therapy, blood exchange therapy, and so on. (1) Light therapy: bilirubin is converted into water-soluble bilirubin isomers under the oxidizing effect of light in the body and excreted from bile and urine, which is a simple and effective method to reduce the serum unconjugated bilirubin. (2) Pharmacologic therapy: The use of hepatic enzyme inducers can increase the liver’s ability to bind and secrete bilirubin, such as phenobarbital. (3) Blood exchange therapy: When the total bilirubin is greater than 20mg/dl or the clinical manifestations of bilirubin encephalopathy have appeared, blood exchange therapy should be carried out promptly. At the same time, it should also prevent hypoglycemia, correct hypoxia, water and electrolyte disorders and other complications. If pathological jaundice occurs, it should be admitted to the hospital in time, and regular treatment should be carried out as soon as possible according to the doctor’s instructions, so as to minimize the adverse effects of the disease. All of the above medications should be used under the guidance of a doctor, avoid self-medication.
