There are two main risks of liver puncture: first, bleeding; second, puncture injury to the lung. The liver is rich in blood supply, and doctors will choose to avoid large blood vessels under the positioning of ultrasound. However, in some people, due to anatomical abnormalities, the distribution of blood vessels is different from that of normal people, and ultrasound cannot completely avoid small blood vessels, so the puncture may cause bleeding to small vessels. Some people may not be able to hold their breath, or may not hold their breath long enough, or may be nervous and have their lungs shift downward, causing the puncture needle to penetrate the lung and cause a pneumothorax. However, the overall probability of these occurrences is very low and liver puncture is still a relatively safe test.
