Mucus in the stool may be caused by physiologic reasons such as overeating, or by pathologic reasons such as colitis or amoebic dysentery. It can be treated by dietary adjustments such as avoiding fried chicken and taking medications such as metronidazole. 1. Physiological causes: overeating, excessive intake of fried chicken, coffee, alcohol, spicy hot, cold and greasy food, can cause gastrointestinal mucosa congestion, edema, mucus secretion, resulting in mucus in the stool and other conditions, can be alleviated by a light diet, avoid spicy stimulation and cold food intake, eat more millet porridge and other easily digestible food. 2. Pathologic causes: (1) colitis: it is an inflammatory disease of the colon caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and other factors, which can present mild to moderate abdominal pain, persistent diarrhea, pus and blood stools, fecal incontinence, mucus stools and other symptoms, which can be relieved and treated by glucocorticosteroids, metronidazole and other drugs. (2) Amebic dysentery: diarrhea, abdominal pain, mucus stools, jelly-like stools and other symptoms are caused by the infection of the intestines by amebas in lysed tissues. Can be treated by metronidazole, tinidazole and other drugs, if necessary, feasible fistulotomy and other surgical treatment. Mucus in the stool is recommended to consult a doctor in order to clarify the diagnosis and carry out targeted treatment. In addition, all of the above drugs should be taken under the guidance of a doctor, and should not be used without authorization.
