What is eczema-like carcinoma of the nipple?

Eczema-like carcinoma of nipple is a kind of cancerous lesion that behaves like eczema of nipple, which can be manifested as erythema, papule or even oozing in the breast area. The specific differentiation is as follows: 1. Age of onset of nipple eczema occurs in lactating women (20-40 years old) due to milk rising, local humidity and sucking of children during lactation; nipple eczema-like cancer occurs in middle-aged and elderly women (40-50 years old and above). Eczema of nipples often develops bilaterally, while eczema-like carcinoma of nipples often develops unilaterally. Papillary eczema is an allergic disease with a short course, which can be cured in a few weeks; papillary eczema-like carcinoma is usually delayed for months or years; 4. Therefore, for patients with “nipple eczema” who are of advanced age, unilateral, with long duration of disease and poor results of conventional treatment, they should be highly alert to the possibility of cancerous lesions and undergo pathological examination for early detection and early treatment. Generally, for early stage lesions, simple excision of the breast is sufficient, while for advanced stage, radical surgery should be performed. Eczema-like carcinoma of the nipple is difficult to attract patients’ attention because of its eczema-like manifestation, and it is easy to delay the time of consultation.
