When the upper lobe of the right lung is resected due to benign disease, it generally does not affect the patient’s life expectancy, and when it is resected due to malignant disease, the patient’s 5-year survival rate is around 30% to 70%. 1. Resection of the upper lobe of the right lung due to benign diseases: for example, resection of the lobe due to trauma, bronchiectasis, benign tumors, etc., which does not affect the life expectancy of the patient himself/herself. 2. Lung lobectomy due to malignant diseases, such as lung adenocarcinoma, squamous lung cancer, etc., should be judged according to the clinical stage of the cancer. (1) In case of stage I lung cancer, after resection of the upper lobe of the right lung, the 5-year survival rate of patients can reach 50%~70% or even more. (2) In case of stage II lung cancer, after resection of the upper lobe of the right lung, combined with radiotherapy, the 5-year survival rate of the patient is about 25%~40%. (3) In case of lung cancer III or IV, after resection of the upper lobe of the right lung, the 5-year survival rate of patients is lower. Patients are advised to adjust their mindset, keep their mood happy and actively cooperate with the treatment under the guidance of doctors.
