Wearing earplugs to sleep has the following hazards: First, after patients wear earplugs to sleep, due to the stimulation of noise for a long time, it is easy to lead to damage to the inner ear and the auditory nerve, resulting in patients with sensorineural deafness. Once this condition occurs, it is not well treated clinically, and some patients may suffer from hearing loss, tinnitus, congestion and other incurable symptoms, which seriously affect the quality of life of patients. Secondly, some patients wear earplugs to sleep. Due to the stimulating effect of earplugs on the ears, friction of the ear canal is likely to occur and breakage of the ear canal will occur, thus inducing otitis externa, leading to unnecessary troubles such as pain and swelling of the patient’s ears. Therefore, it is not recommended for patients to wear ear plugs while sleeping, and it is recommended that patients add ear plugs and take them off before going to bed to avoid the above side effects of wearing ear plugs for a long time.
