Patients with sticky earwax are often considered to be triggered by genetic factors. If left untreated for a long period of time sticky earwax will gather together, blocking the patient’s external ear canal and affecting hearing, and sometimes a foul odor will form. It is recommended that patients buy extra-fine cotton swabs, which can be dipped into the ear canal repeatedly with baby cotton swabs to get the sticky earwax out of the ear. However, sometimes the sticky earwax is so deep that it is not easy for the patient to deal with it by themselves. It is best to go to the hospital and let the doctor use a cerumen hook or suction device to clean out the earwax from the deeper part of the ear thoroughly. This will prevent the ear canal from becoming infected or the eardrum from being touched if the earwax is removed on its own. After active treatment, the patient’s sticky earwax symptoms should be significantly improved, it is recommended not to eat too spicy food, to avoid stimulation and aggravation of cerumen secretion.
