A feeling of stuffiness in the ear is when the ear seems to be blocked. There are two general causes of this condition. 1. Blockage of the opening of the eustachian tube, which leads to a feeling of stuffiness in the ear. This is due to an enlarged inferior turbinate blocking the opening of the eustachian tube, which leads to an imbalance of pressure inside and outside the middle ear cavity, causing the patient to experience symptoms related to tinnitus, a feeling of ear stuffiness, and hearing loss. During the examination, an electronic rhinoscopy is first required to find out if there is an enlarged turbinate. An electronic otoscope is also needed to check for tympanic membrane collapse and loss of tympanic membrane motility and light cone. If this condition exists, the patient first needs to shrink the turbinates with topical application of Darifenacin nasal aerosol and also needs to have the eustachian tube blown open to cure the condition.2. If there is a blockage of cerumen in the external ear canal, which leads to intermittent ear stuffiness, examination of the external ear canal can confirm the diagnosis. If cerumen is found, it can be cured by removing it directly.
