How long does it take to get a period after IUD removal

After the IUD is removed, menstrual flow usually occurs after 2-3 weeks. The IUD is a contraceptive tool that is used more frequently by women in China, and should be removed when a fertile woman has fertility requirements, or if the IUD needs to be replaced, or if the IUD has some side effects that affect women’s health. Removal of the IUD should be done within 3 to 7 days after the end of menstruation and should be done under ultrasound guidance so that the location of the IUD can be accurately determined and the IUD can be removed completely. Removal of the IUD does not have a significant impact on the uterus, so it does not usually affect menstruation. The normal female menstrual cycle is 28-35 days and the menstrual period is about 1 week, so the time to remove the IUD should be the first 2 weeks of the menstrual cycle, which means that 2-3 weeks after the IUD removal should be the menstrual period. In addition, sexual intercourse should be prohibited for 2 weeks after IUD removal. If you do not resume menstruation for a long time, you should be alert to the possibility of pregnancy, and it is recommended to improve the relevant examination to clarify the cause.
