What’s wrong with a swollen ear for a day?

Ear swelling and pain for a day may be associated with diseases such as external auditory canal boils, acute suppurative otitis media, and cerumen embolism.
1. External auditory canal boil: It is a limited acute purulent inflammation of the skin of the cartilaginous segment of the external auditory canal. The main symptom is severe, throbbing earache, especially when opening the mouth and chewing, often radiating to the head.
2. Acute suppurative otitis media: mostly triggered by bacterial infection of the Eustachian tube pathway, septic inflammation within the tympanic cavity, resulting in positive pressure within the tympanic cavity, bulging tympanic membrane, in the stimulation of pus and inflammatory factors, the ear can be felt as distended and painful day symptoms.
3. Cerumen embolism: If the ceruminous glands of the external ear canal produce too much cerumen and are not discharged well, cerumen may accumulate in the external ear canal, causing cerumen embolism. It is often triggered by water ingress or cerumen accumulation touching the tympanic membrane, and can cause ear swelling and pain for a day under continuous stimulation.
When you find that your ears are swollen and painful for a day, you can actively seek medical treatment and systematic examination to clarify the diagnosis and cause of the disease.
