Patients have a burning sensation in the ankle for the following common reasons: First, ankle sprain: acute sprain of the ankle can easily occur when going down the stairs, and the patient will have local pain and burning sensation in the ankle, mainly because the sprain caused local bleeding and soft tissue damage, and local heat will increase significantly. Second, ankle joint infection and formation of septic arthritis: ankle stabbed by sharp objects or after injury, bacteria transferred to the ankle joint through blood circulation, can cause septic infection of the ankle joint, the patient will have a burning sensation, pain and limited activity of the ankle joint, blood tests will find a significant increase in white blood cells, MRI will find a large amount of joint effusion in the ankle joint. Once the ankle infection is diagnosed, anti-infective treatment with sensitive antibiotics should be administered quickly and surgical treatment will be required if necessary.
