The fastest way to stop a nosebleed

The fastest hemostasis can only be achieved by the most appropriate method for nosebleeds. Shiatsu hemostasis, electrocoagulation hemostasis, nasal tamponade, vascular coagulation, vascular embolization, etc. can be chosen according to the bleeding site and condition in order to achieve fast hemostasis. 1. Shiatsu hemostasis: suitable for bleeding in the front of nasal cavity, especially for children and teenagers. The patient sits in a sitting position, with the head slightly tilted forward, and the fingers press the nose on the bleeding side or pinch the nose bilaterally for 10-15 minutes, and spit out the blood in the mouth to avoid swallowing by mistake. 2. Cauterization: Suitable for patients with clear bleeding points and less bleeding, it is recommended to stop bleeding by local compression first, and then cauterize to stop bleeding. 3. Nasal tamponade: there are two types of tamponade: anterior nostril tamponade and posterior nostril tamponade. The former is suitable for patients with unclear bleeding site or more dramatic bleeding, and is removed after 24-48 hours of filling with air bags, sterile petroleum jelly gauze strips and expanding sponges; the latter is suitable for patients with bleeding site in the posterior nasal cavity, with more complications, and requires strict control of the indications, and the use of a sufficient amount of antimicrobials during the filling period. 4. Vascular ligation: it is suitable for patients with arterial nasal hemorrhage that cannot be controlled by conservative treatment, and it needs to be performed according to the distribution of blood vessels and the suspected bleeding site, including ligation of posterior sclerosus artery and anterior sclerosus artery. 5. Vascular embolization: suitable for severe nasal bleeding that cannot be controlled by the above methods or severe nasal bleeding caused by cranial trauma. It is recommended that patients should go to regular hospitals as soon as possible when they have symptoms of nosebleed, and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment to avoid adverse consequences.
