Where is the butterfly bone located?

The butterfly bone is usually referred to medically as the scapula. The scapula is located on the outside of the back of the thorax, one on each side, between the 2nd and 7th ribs. The scapula is a triangular flat bone that can be divided into two sides, three margins, and three corners. The ventral surface, opposite the thorax, is called the subscapular fossa, the dorsal surface has a transverse ridge called the scapular gonad, and the scapular gonad extends laterally in a flattened protuberance called the acromion. The superior margin is short and thin, the medial margin is thin and sharp, adjacent to the spine, and the lateral margin is plump, adjacent to the axilla. The location of the convergence between them is called the superior, inferior, and lateral corners, respectively. In case of discomfort in the region of the scapula, it is recommended to seek medical examination and treatment as prescribed by the doctor.
