Eating black ants directly does not necessarily result in a toxic reaction. This is because everyone reacts differently to the secretions on the body of black ants, or other substances. If the reaction is more severe, there is a risk of poisoning or allergic reactions, including abdominal pain, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and a severe generalized papular rash or urticaria. In addition, it may cause laryngeal edema or pulmonary edema, resulting in dyspnea and general cyanosis. However, common black ants, if eaten directly, may also cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. This is a sign of acute gastroenteritis, not necessarily a sign of poisoning.
