Composition and efficacy of Rhubarb and Mudan Peel Soup

Rhubarb and Peony Tang is composed of 12 grams of rhubarb, 3 grams of peony bark, 9 grams of peach kernel, 30 grams of donggua ren, and 9 grams of manganese nitrate, which has the efficacy of diarrhea-heat, breaking up blood stasis, and eliminating swellings and dissipating stagnation. The combination of these herbs is effective in removing heat, breaking up blood stasis, eliminating swelling and dispersing lumps. Rhubarb and Mudan Tang can be used for the treatment of intestinal carbuncle (carbuncle occurring in the intestines and bowels, manifested by fever, pain in the right abdomen, palpable lumps) at the beginning of the disease, dampness-heat stagnation (stagnation of dampness-heat evil qi in the body), manifested by pain in the right lesser abdomen, refusing to be pressed, fever at times, spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating on the slightest movement), malignant cold (fear of cold), yellowish and greasy tongue fur, and smooth and numberless pulse. Adverse effects of Rhubarb and Peony Soup have not been clarified, it is contraindicated in allergic patients, and this formula should be used under the supervision of a physician.
