How to Remove Vitreous Clouding

Physiologic vitreous clouding can be treated with iodine preparation and regular follow-up, while pathologic vitreous clouding can be treated with medication, surgery or laser. Vitreous clouding is the blurring of vision caused by an unknown opaque substance in the vitreous body, including physiological vitreous clouding, which is commonly seen in the elderly and is caused by age-related changes in the vitreous body. Pathological vitreous clouding is commonly caused by inflammation, trauma, and foreign tumors, and can be treated with medication, surgery, and laser therapy. 1. Give iodine preparation treatment and regular follow-up: physiological vitreous clouding can be followed up regularly or use iodine preparation, such as topical aminopeptide iodine eye drops or oral lecithin complexed iodine, etc., to promote the absorption of exudate from the lesion site. 2. Pathologic vitreous clouding (1) Drug treatment: besides iodine preparation treatment, for infectious vitreous inflammation, anti-fungal drugs or antibiotics can be selected according to the results of drug sensitivity test, such as levofloxacin eye drops or fluconazole eye drops. (2) Laser surgery: the vitreous body is crushed into small particles by vaporization of laser to promote absorption. (3) Surgical treatment: Vitrectomy is feasible if there is a risk of vitreous hemorrhage or retinal hemorrhage. Vitreous clouding should be treated in the hospital according to the doctor’s prescription, and should not be self-medicated to avoid adverse reactions.
