What to do if a pregnant woman has low blood sugar

When pregnant women have low blood sugar, they can be relieved by taking oral sugar water, sugary drinks, or eating candies, cookies, bread and buns. For medication-induced low blood glucose, the medication in question should be discontinued promptly. Heavy cases and patients suspected of hypoglycemic coma should be given intravenous glucose promptly. Pregnant women with low blood glucose may experience tremors, palpitations and anxiety, as well as symptoms of autonomic hypoglycemia such as sweating, hunger and sensory abnormalities, and may also experience cognitive impairment, behavioral changes, psychomotor abnormalities, as well as seizures and coma when blood glucose levels are even lower. There are more causes of low blood glucose in pregnant women, such as insulinoma, medication factors, etc. Pregnant women with hypoglycemia are advised to go to the hospital if their symptoms are not relieved or recur after eating sugary foods.
