Weixiang is the dried winged branches or winged appendages of the plant Weixiang, family Weixiaceae, used as medicine. It is bitter in taste and cold in nature. It has the efficacy of breaking the blood, promoting menstruation and killing worms. It can be used to treat women’s amenorrhea, postpartum blood stasis and abdominal pain and other conditions.
Weixiang is usually used by decocting the soup and taking it internally. This product can be used to treat postpartum blood stasis by decoction with Angelica sinensis, safflower and motherwort. For the treatment of bruises, it can be taken with saffron, red peony, peach kernel and rhubarb powder.
This product is contraindicated in pregnant women, and the adverse effects are not clear. Chinese medicine should be used under the guidance of a doctor, and should not be used on its own to avoid adverse consequences.
