What to do if your baby’s eyelashes fall into your eye

Babies with eyelashes in their eyes can have them removed with a cotton swab dipped in sterile saline, by applying saline or eye drops to the conjunctiva, or by going to the hospital.
Do not rub your baby’s eye with your hands to avoid infection. In some cases the eyelash will be removed as the baby’s eye rotates.
As your baby blinks, the eyelash may slide down to the lower eyelid, where it can be removed by gently peeling back the lower eyelid and dipping a sterile cotton swab in sterile saline.
Add eye drops (hormone-free) and sterile saline to the baby’s conjunctiva, and the eyelashes may come out as the liquid flows.
If you are unable to remove the eyelashes from your baby’s eye, it is recommended that you go to the hospital in time for the doctor to remove them with professional tools to avoid damaging your baby’s eye.
