There is actually not much difference between white Vaseline and Vaseline. If there is a difference, Vaseline is comprised of White Vaseline and Yellow Vaseline, while White Vaseline and Yellow Vaseline are actually just a cosmetic difference in color. Some ointments use Vaseline as a base, some use white Vaseline as a base, some use yellow Vaseline as a base, for example, sulfur ointment generally uses yellow Vaseline as a base.
