There are several aspects of lumbar MRI: first, it is a detailed examination of the bones of the lumbar vertebrae, such as the presence of lumbar fractures, lumbar contusions, lumbar spine osteophytes, and lumbar occupancies, i.e., various benign or malignant tumors. Secondly, the soft tissues play an important role, of which X-rays and CT are irreplaceable. MRI can detect inflammation, infection, and tumors in the soft tissues of the lumbar region. It is also important to examine the spinal cord to determine whether there is a spinal cord injury or whether there is a mass growing in the spinal cord.
