Formula and original dosage of Da Chai Hu Tang

Da Chai Hu Tang is composed of half a catty of Chai Hu (15g), three taels of Scutellaria Baicalensis (9g), three taels of Paeoniae Alba (9g), half a catty of Semixia (15g), five taels of Ginger (15g), four Hovenia Citri Reticulatae (4), twelve jujubes, and two taels of Rheum Palmatum (6g).
In Da Chaihu Tang, Chaihu has the efficacy of dispersing the evil of Shaoyang, Scutellaria baicalensis has the efficacy of conciliating and clearing heat, Rhubarb and Citrus aurantium have the efficacy of moving Qi and eliminating lumps, Semixia and Ginger have the efficacy of harmonizing and lowering rebelliousness of the stomach, and Glycyrrhiza glabra harmonizes the various medicines (harmonizing the properties of different Chinese medicines).
The combination of all the herbs in Da Chai Hu Tang has the effect of harmonizing the Shaoyang (treating external heat illnesses in which the evil is between half-expression and half-li) and catharticizing the heat knot internally.
Da Chaihu Tang can be used to treat Shaoyang-Yangming syndrome with symptoms such as hot and cold fluctuations (the body is hot and cold at the same time), lumpiness under the heart (mainly refers to the distension and discomfort in the stomach), bitter fullness in the chest (the feeling of fullness and discomfort in the front and both sides of the chest), vomiting, unresolved stools, or diarrhea under the pressure of heat, with yellowish lichenified moss, and stringy and strong pulse.
