Stones in the renal pelvis can be treated with different options depending on the size of the stone. First, smaller pelvic stones that are within 6mm in diameter are smaller than the narrowest diameter of the urinary tract, so pelvic stones within 6mm can be excreted on their own. Patients can promote the excretion of stones by drinking a lot of water and doing appropriate activities. Second, for larger stones, such as those within 2 cm, the preferred treatment method is extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, which breaks up the stones by shock waves and is safe and effective. Thirdly, for larger stones in the renal pelvis, such as stones larger than 2cm or multiple stones, or large stones in the shape of antlers, surgical treatment can be used.
