Causes of cerebral infarction

Causes of cerebral infarction include atherosclerosis of large arteries, occlusion of small arteries, cardiogenic embolism, etc. It is recommended to seek medical treatment in time.
1. Atherosclerosis of large arteries: atherosclerosis of large arteries can promote platelet adhesion, aggregation, easy to make thrombus formation, embolus can block the lumen, dislodged embolus can also block the distal blood vessels, penetrating arteries, resulting in vascular stenosis or occlusion, which triggers cerebral infarction. Risk factors for atherosclerosis include hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus and so on.
2. Small artery occlusion: mostly refers to the occlusion of small perforating arteries in the cerebral hemisphere or the deep part of the brainstem, forming small infarction foci.
3. Cardiogenic embolism: i.e. cerebral infarction induced by embolus from the heart blocking the cerebral arteries, embolus can be caused by atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, cardiomyopathy, prosthetic heart valves, cardiac valvulopathy, infective endocarditis and other diseases.
4. Other causes: except for the above three clear causes, caused by other rare causes of stroke. Such as coagulation disorders, blood composition changes, various causes of vasculitis, vascular malformation. However, cardioembolic and atherosclerotic types should be excluded. Another part of the unexplained type, such as after a comprehensive examination did not find the cause of the person.
Patients with cerebral infarction should consult a doctor in time to find out the cause of the disease under the doctor’s guidance and carry out the corresponding treatment, avoiding blind judgment on their own, so as not to delay the condition.
