There are several reasons for cloudy amniotic fluid: first, abnormal fetal development in the mother, such as intrauterine growth retardation, and some maternal comorbidities that lead to relaxation of the fetal anal sphincter, triggering intrauterine fetal fecal discharge and causing amniotic fluid contamination. Second, the generation of amniotic fluid is related to the amniotic membrane, and infectious diseases of the amniotic membrane may lead to cloudy amniotic fluid. Third, the most common factor is gestational hypertension. Pregnant women with diabetes, poor blood pressure control and poor blood sugar control are prone to complications of cloudy amniotic fluid. Fourth, the umbilical cord is wrapped around the neck, and when it is tightened, it can easily cause intrauterine hypoxia in the fetus, which can lead to cloudy amniotic fluid.
