What to prepare for a coronary artery bypass graft

  (a) What will be done the day before the surgery?  1.The nurse will draw your blood specimen to match blood in the morning before the surgery.  2.Do the drug allergy test, prepare the skin of chest and perineum; for coronary artery bypass surgery patients, you also need to prepare the skin of one or both lower limbs for taking the vein during the surgery.  3.Before the surgery, you can take a shower and wash your hair, but pay attention to avoid getting cold and flu.  4.The day before surgery, dinner can be eaten as usual. You cannot eat after 8:00 p.m., and you cannot drink after 12:00 p.m., so that your stomach is empty during surgery and you will not choke on food when anesthesia is inserted through the mouth.  5.The nurse will give you an enema at 9:00 p.m. to allow you to have a bowel movement.  6.Ensure enough sleep at night. If you have difficulty sleeping, please tell the nurse, who will give you sleeping pills so that you can sleep well and rest.  7.Prepare the items you need after surgery: tissue, basin, towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, water cup, straw, potty, urinal, etc.  8. Communicate with the doctor in a timely manner if there are abnormal events such as increased body temperature, increased blood pressure, or menstrual flow in women. It is better to relieve the stool one day before the operation to avoid the poor relieve of stool due to various reasons after the operation.  (2) Anesthesia consultation: Do not leave the ward casually one day before surgery, wait patiently for the anesthesiologist’s consultation and understand your anesthesia method.  (3) What will be done on the day of surgery?  1.The nurse will wake you up around 6:00 am on the day of surgery to measure your heart rate and blood pressure.  2.Wash and urinate well, remove dentures, glasses, watch, cell phone and other valuable things to your family for safekeeping; put on your hospital gown, surgical cap and check if your wristband is on.  3, about half an hour before you go to the operating room, you will be given a pre-operative injection, after the injection you will feel dry mouth and want to sleep, so you should go to urinate once before the injection to empty your bladder. Stay in bed after the injection and wait for the operating room nurse to pick you up.
