The treatment of recurrence of pain from old injuries is mainly divided into conservative treatment and surgical treatment.
1. Conservative treatment: If the recurrence of old injuries only causes local pain, and there is no other serious pathological changes, usually conservative treatment can be carried out first, such as oral ibuprofen, loxoprofen and other drugs to reduce local inflammatory reaction; hot compresses, massage, physical therapy and other physical ways to promote trauma repair; local closure to resolve the intractable pain and so on.
2. Surgery: If the cause of pain after the recurrence of old injuries is pathologic changes, such as second fracture, ligament rupture, etc., surgical treatment is usually needed to recover. Surgical treatment varies according to the primary disease, and common surgical methods are old fracture incision and internal fixation, ligament repair or reconstruction surgery and so on.
If the patient’s symptoms are not relieved or are accompanied by other symptoms, he/she should go to the hospital in time to have the cause clarified and then give targeted treatment. All of the above medications should be used under the guidance of a doctor, avoid self-medication.
