Chills in patients with prostatitis are most often seen in acute prostatitis because of severe bacterial infection that leads to systemic manifestations such as chills and, in severe cases, sepsis. Acute bacterial prostatitis is mostly caused by upstream infection of the urethra, such as transurethral instrumentation or other parts of the urinary system caused by infected urine reflux through the prostatic duct. Because of the severe bacterial infection, the patient will have obvious systemic symptoms such as fatigue, high fever, chills and so on. In addition, there will be urinary tract irritation symptoms such as urinary frequency, urgency, painful urination, or obstruction symptoms such as hesitant urination, intermittent urination, or even acute urinary retention, perineal and suprapubic pain accompanied by discomfort or pain in the external genitalia.
