Elderly people’s instep pain may be caused by physiological factors such as walking too much or wearing inappropriate shoes, or it may be caused by pathological factors such as trauma, arthritis and peripheral neuritis.
1. Physiological factors: because the elderly walk too much or wear inappropriate shoes and other factors, can lead to fatigue or repeated friction of the soft tissues around the feet, causing pain in the instep and its surrounding area, appropriate rest or replacement of comfortable shoes can be gradually relieved.
2. Trauma: When the elderly suffer from trauma to the feet, it can lead to soft tissue injury around the ankle, or even fracture, which can cause pain in the instep, accompanied by localized swelling and subcutaneous bruising and other symptoms.
3. Arthritis: including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis, etc., can cause pain, swelling, and impaired mobility of the ankle and the back of the foot.
4. Peripheral neuritis: due to diabetes, drug overdose, infection and other factors can cause peripheral neuritis of the extremities, manifesting as abnormal sensation and motor disorder in the distal end of the affected limbs, and symptoms such as tingling, ankylosis, or burning sensation in the back of the feet can occur.
When the elderly have pain in the back of the foot, long time without relief, should be timely hospital consultation, identify the cause, under the guidance of the doctor for standardized treatment.
