How do you understand the relationship between “cosmetics” and “medical skincare”?

The original concept of cosmetics was to apply, spray or other similar methods, applied to any part of the human surface to clean, eliminate bad odors, skin care, beauty and grooming purposes of the product. With the development of the cosmetics market, the connotation of cosmetics goes far beyond the concept itself. At present, cosmetics can be roughly divided into the following categories according to their efficacy: 1, cleaning category: cosmetics used to remove dirt from the skin and hair, such as facial cleansers, body washes and shampoos. 2, care category: cosmetics used to protect the skin and hair, such as lotion, conditioner. 3.Nutrition: cosmetics for skin and hair nutrition, such as various vitamins, herbs and biological products, etc. 4, aromatic category: cosmetics for the body and hair to emit aromatic odor, such as perfume, flower lotion and cologne. 5.Special purpose cosmetics: also known as efficacious cosmetics, such as spot-removing skin care products, sunscreens and hair dyes. Dermatologists are mainly associated with care, nutrition and special-purpose cosmetics, especially those “moisturizing cosmetics” that can effectively repair the skin barrier function. However, if a dermatologist instructs a patient to buy “cosmetics”, the patient is often unable to accept and understand it; if the patient is instructed to use “moisturizing skin care products”, the patient can easily accept it. Although the connotation is the same, the expressions are different, and the patients’ acceptability has obvious differences. At present, China’s cosmetics market is very prosperous, there are many brands, and cosmetics do not need to go through strict clinical experiments before they are marketed. Therefore, although there are many brands of moisturizing skin care products in cosmetics at different price levels, it is difficult for clinicians to judge: which brands of moisturizing skin care products have a good effect of repairing the skin barrier. Therefore, the Chinese Physicians Association Dermatologists Branch advocates: “Use skin care products whose safety and efficacy have been clinically verified by dermatologists in multiple centers nationwide”, which is also the self-regulation of our industry.
