Voriconazole is a synthetic azole broad-spectrum antifungal drug, which mainly exerts antifungal effects by inhibiting cytochrome P450-dependent enzymes and interfering with ergosterol synthesis in fungal cells, resulting in ergosterol deficiency and inhibition of fungal cell growth. It can be used clinically to treat inflammatory, invasive infections caused by Candida as well as Candida klebsiella infections, and can be used for those who are resistant to fluconazole. It can also treat serious infections caused by Actinomyces spp. and Fusarium spp. and can also be used to treat invasive Aspergillosis. Its most common side effect is visual disturbance, which may be associated with higher blood levels or doses, and visual function needs to be checked if the drug is used continuously for more than twenty-eight days. Other adverse reactions include fever, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, rash, peripheral edema, and abdominal pain.
