Is cerebral stenosis life-threatening?

Whether cerebral stenosis is life-threatening or not is related to the severity of the condition. Mild cerebral stenosis is generally not life-threatening; moderate to severe stenosis can easily cause blood vessel blockage, which can lead to cerebral infarction and even life-threatening.
1. Mild stenosis: Most of them do not cause obvious symptoms of blood vessel blockage and insufficient cerebral blood supply, but are found by ultrasound during medical checkups. At this time, most of the stenosis is not life-threatening, but active intervention and treatment are needed, or else the condition will further progress, which may lead to cerebral infarction.
2. Moderate to severe stenosis: generally, the degree of stenosis is more obvious, which will easily cause the corresponding symptoms of cerebral ischemia and hypoxia, and some patients will suffer from cerebral infarction due to the occlusion of blood vessels, which may cause focal neurological deficits in the mild cases, such as hemiparesis, aphasia, and hemiparetic sensory deficits, etc., and in serious cases, it may even lead to coma, respiratory failure, and even death.
Therefore, the risk of cerebral stenosis is relatively high, and it is recommended that patients intervene and treat it in a timely manner to avoid cerebral infarction, which may affect the quality of life and even jeopardize the life of the patient.
