What to do if you get air bubbles in your infusion

If a small amount of air bubbles enter the blood vessels during infusion, it is generally not a big problem and will not cause air embolism, and the air bubbles can be discharged through breathing after exchanging through the alveoli. If more air bubbles enter the blood vessels, about 5ml or even 10ml, attention should be paid to the possible formation of air embolism, and the patient’s condition needs to be closely observed, and if necessary, the head-low-feet-high position can be used, and the left-low-right-high position can be used, which can effectively alleviate the serious complications caused by air embolism. If the patient has panic, chest tightness, accelerated heart rate, precordial pain, lower blood pressure and so on, air embolism may occur, if necessary, timely rescue, can be treated with hyperbaric oxygen chamber.
