Itching all over the body after moxibustion may be caused by high temperatures, qi and blood circulation, or an allergic reaction. It may also have nothing to do with moxibustion.
1. High temperature: When moxibustion moxa burns to produce heat, the human skin needs a process of adaptation, there will be a slight itching, and may be relieved after a period of adaptation.
2. Qi and blood running: when the patient carries out moxibustion, the human body pushes the qi and blood to run through the meridians. In the process of meridian operation, there will be a generalized itching sensation.
3. Allergic reaction: After moxibustion, an allergic reaction occurs, the skin will produce itchy symptoms, or even a rash. In this case, moxibustion should be stopped immediately and treated under the guidance of a physician.
For high fever, convulsions, coma, or the body is no longer able to regulate the person, also should not be moxibustion. Moxibustion should not be applied when you are overly hungry, overly full, overworked, or sweating profusely. It should not be applied to the area of heart, large blood vessels, thin skin, less muscle and sinews, lumbar-sacral area and lower abdomen of pregnant women, testicles, nipples and pubic area. The face should not be used directly on the skin moxibustion.
After moxibustion body itching may also have nothing to do with moxibustion: itching is the main self-conscious symptoms of skin diseases. Chinese medicine believes that “heat micro itch”, that is, itch is due to wind, dampness, heat, insect evil guest in the skin muscle surface, caused by the skin and flesh between the qi and blood disharmony, and the Yu born of micro-heat; or due to the blood deficiency of wind and dryness blocked in the skin, the skin is not moistened, and the birth of the heat and the development of the deficiency. Therefore, itchiness occurs for different reasons.
