How to eat to keep cancer away?

In the 21st century, cancer has become the biggest killer threatening human health and life, surpassing cardiovascular diseases to become the number one cause of death worldwide. As of 2012, there are more than 50 million cancer patients worldwide, with more than 11 million new cancer patients and more than 7 million deaths due to cancer every year, which is equivalent to one person’s life taken by cancer every 6 seconds. According to the 2012 China Tumor Registry Annual Report released by the National Tumor Registry, there are about 3.5 million new tumor cases and 2.5 million deaths due to cancer in China every year, which is equivalent to an average of 8,550 people suffering from cancer every day, and this number is still getting bigger. Diet is very important for cancer prevention and treatment, so how should we adjust our eating habits to keep away from cancer? 1.Limit the intake of animal food Internationally renowned nutritionist and professor of Cornell University, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, is a researcher of diet and cancer prevention. Dr. T. Campbell is an absolute authority on diet and cancer. Through a survey of the types and quantities of food intake of more than 6,500 adults in 65 counties in China, he found that the less meat and the more vegetarian the area, the lower the blood cholesterol and estrogen levels of people, and the incidence of cancer and other affluent diseases are significantly lower; and a diet based on plant foods can effectively prevent and control the development of chronic diseases such as cancer. There is also a growing body of evidence that strongly demonstrates that animal foods, especially red meat and processed meats, increase the incidence of cancer, especially bowel, esophageal, and lung cancers. Due to the current feeding methods, numerous antibiotics and growth hormones are left in animal foods, and excessive consumption of these hormones can increase the burden on the liver and kidneys, ultimately leading to cancer. In addition, the fat and oil content of animal foods is much higher than that of plant foods, and they are all high in saturated fatty acids. There have been numerous studies showing that saturated fatty acids are a significant risk factor for various cancers such as bowel, lung, breast, prostate, and uterine cancers. Dr. Campbell found that blood cholesterol levels were the strongest predictor of various affluenza diseases, and that people with lower cholesterol levels were significantly less likely to develop cancer. Factors that contribute to elevated blood cholesterol levels come almost exclusively from animal foods, including animal protein (which raises LDL) and animal cholesterol (which raises blood cholesterol). Many people think that by limiting the intake of foods with high cholesterol content such as crabs, egg yolks, and fish roe will not cause elevated cholesterol, but in fact the direct cause of elevated blood lipoprotein levels is animal protein, not animal cholesterol. Dr. Wu also found clinically that many cancer patients are not very fat, but their blood cholesterol and LDL are significantly elevated, which means that high blood lipid is not much related to body size, but closely related to cancer incidence. Therefore, to prevent and control cancer, the most important point is to limit the intake of animal food, including meat, eggs and milk, and try to maintain low cholesterol level in the body, which is a very important part to keep away from cancer. 2. Stay away from unnatural food Fast food, fried food, baked food, potato chips, French fries and cream contain a lot of trans fatty acids. Numerous studies have shown that the human body cannot break down such fats, which will cause a serious decrease in the detoxification function of liver and kidneys and eventually induce various tumors such as breast cancer, prostate cancer and bowel cancer. In particular, margarine is called “edible plastic” by nutritionists, so think about how terrible it is. Barbecue, smoked and pickled foods contain many carcinogens such as amyl nitrite and benzo(a)pyrene, and a research center in the United States reported that eating a chicken leg is equivalent to the toxicity of smoking 60 cigarettes. Women who often eat barbecue have a two-fold higher risk of breast cancer. Frequent consumption of processed meat products rich in nitrites, such as sausages and canned meats, can lead to numerous digestive tract cancers, especially stomach cancer, and the love of pickled foods is directly related. Food additives are another type of common carcinogens, as most of them are synthetic and can block the metabolic pipeline of the body and cause cancer. In addition to the well-known Sudan red, acrylamide, artificial sweeteners, etc., there are many other additives that are not known to people. And we usually buy in the supermarket instant noodles, cookies, instant food, preserves, canned food are more or less some preservatives, coloring, sweeteners and other food additives, these are very harmful to health. With the improvement of living standards, people are increasingly pursuing a variety of exciting flavors, thus consuming a large amount of sugar, salt, MSG and other flavoring agents. And sugar, salt is called “white drugs” by some foreign nutritionists. Salt and preserved foods can increase the incidence of stomach, esophageal and intestinal cancers; white sugar can lead to obesity, and obesity will make the risk of cancer increase 6 times, which is the potential risk of more than a dozen cancers. In addition, sugar and salt will damage the endothelium of blood vessels, which is an important factor leading to the occurrence of all chronic diseases. 3. Eat more whole grains Whole grains are rich in dietary fiber, which can promote intestinal excretion of waste and reduce the accumulation of toxic substances in the body, thus preventing the occurrence of various cancers. Whole grains are unprocessed and unrefined, and can be consumed in their natural state. Most of the carbohydrates in them are “complex” carbohydrates, which are beneficial to human health and can lower blood cholesterol, lose weight and effectively prevent cancer. The refined and processed white rice and flour not only have no anti-cancer effect, but are also harmful to human body when eaten in excess. Common anti-cancer grains include corn, buckwheat, sweet potato, purple potato, coix seeds, peanuts, almonds, etc. Natural vegetables and fruits contain a lot of vitamin C, carotene, minerals, superoxide dismutase, chlorophyll, folic acid, flavonoids, indole, coumarin, dietary fiber and other anti-cancer substances. Numerous studies have shown that eating more unprocessed vegetables, fruits, legumes, mushrooms and algae can prevent most cancers. A daily intake of 400-800 grams of fruits and vegetables, and keeping 3-5 kinds of vegetables and 2-4 kinds of fruits can effectively prevent stomach cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer and other cancers, which are difficult to be replaced by other foods. Common vegetables and fruits with strong anti-cancer effects include white radish, carrot, lily, eggplant, tomato, bitter melon, water chestnut, cauliflower, asparagus, garlic, ginger, onion, apple, orange, lemon, pear, kiwi, strawberry, grape, fig, red date, soybean, mung bean, adzuki bean, reishi, shiitake mushroom, mushroom, monkey head mushroom, black fungus, silver fungus, kelp, nori, spirulina. Many cancer patients and even doctors are unaware of the close relationship between diet and cancer, resulting in many cases of recurrence and metastasis due to improper diet, which is a great lesson. A proper diet can not only prevent the occurrence of cancer effectively, but also reverse the growth of cancer cells in some early stage tumors. Therefore, more clinicians need to pay attention to and study this area of cancer and diet. Let cancer stay away as soon as possible, starting from the right diet!
