Lower ureteral stones can be treated with medications such as potassium citrate extended-release tablets, sodium bicarbonate, or surgery. The treatment needs to be considered according to the size of the patient’s stones. 1. Small stones: If the patient’s lower ureteral stone diameter is less than 6mm or less, you can take oral potassium citrate extended-release tablets and other drugs for lithotripsy, for patients with lower ureteral stone diameter less than 6mm and pure uric acid stones, you can use sodium bicarbonate for lithotripsy. Generally need to be treated for about one to two weeks. 2. large stones: if the patient’s lower ureteral stone diameter is greater than 6mm, can not be eliminated by themselves, need ureteroscopic lithotripsy lithotripsy, laparoscopic lithotripsy and open surgery. Surgical treatment should strictly follow the indications of surgery to prevent complications. The management of lower ureteral stones requires standardized treatment in the hospital to avoid further aggravation of the condition.
