An ectopic pregnancy is not a medication abortion. Ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy outside the uterine cavity and treatment includes conservative treatment as well as surgical treatment. In most cases, methotrexate is chosen for conservative treatment, while laparoscopic surgery or open surgery is chosen for surgical treatment. The choice of treatment depends on the patient’s condition, the blood HCG level and the size of the ectopic mass. If the gynecological ultrasound indicates an early intrauterine pregnancy and excludes the possibility of ectopic pregnancy, a medical abortion can be chosen in this case. However, medical abortion is generally indicated within 49 days of menopause. If the gestational week is large, medical abortion is also not recommended, as it is prone to failure of medical abortion, or heavy bleeding or haemorrhage.
