After surgery for early stage stomach cancer, you can usually rest for one month and start working.
Early gastric cancer means that the cancer cells are limited to the mucous membrane or submucous layer. Most of the patients with early stage stomach cancer have no symptoms, and a small part of them will have indigestion and pain in upper abdomen, which are often considered as gastritis by patients and delayed treatment.
After gastric cancer surgery, patients’ vital signs and other indexes must be strictly observed whether they are normal or not, and patients’ drainage tube should be closely observed. After the operation, the patient should wait until the intestines are out of gas before removing the gastric tube. On the day of removing the gastric tube, the patient can take a small amount of water or rice soup as liquid diet, and then gradually return to normal diet.
It is recommended to get out of bed as early as possible after gastric cancer surgery. Early getting out of bed after surgery can not only promote peristalsis of intestines, but also prevent intestinal adhesion. However, the activities must be appropriate, and it is better for the patient not to get tired. One month after the operation, patients can resume normal life, but they should not do strenuous exercise and must go to the hospital for rechecking regularly.
