Breast hypertrophy is categorized as gynecomastia and gynecomastia. The cause of the disease is not clear, but it may be related to the oversensitivity of breast tissue to estrogen.
1. Gynecomastia: primary physiologic breast enlargement, mainly due to transient androgen (estrogen) hormone imbalance, breast sensitivity to estrogen increases. Secondary pathologic breast enlargement may be related to endocrine disorders caused by testicular disease, adrenal gland lesions, chronic renal failure and so on.
2. Gynecomastia: Early maturity breast enlargement is mainly related to over-sensitivity of breast tissue to estrogen or strong stimulation of breast tissue by estrogen, and adult breast enlargement may be related to excessive secretion of estrogen.
Usually there are no obvious symptoms in the early stage of gynecomastia, but with the development of the disease, there will be excessive increase in breast size, breast sagging and so on. Often, gynecomastia can be treated with anti-estrogen drugs, such as tamoxifen. Gynecomastia can be treated with androgenic drugs, such as danazol, formestane, etc. Estrogen antagonists such as tamoxifen and letrozole can also be used.
It is recommended that patients with breast hypertrophy should be treated with medication according to their actual situation and surgery if necessary. Daily use of appropriate bras to support the breasts and fixed to the chest wall can help to reduce the symptoms of discomfort.
