Fangfeng Tongsheng San is not a treatment for gout. It is from Xuanming Lunction, which consists of Fangfeng, Chuanxiong, Angelica sinensis, Mint and Ephedra, etc. It has the efficacy of dispersing wind and draining heat, relieving the surface and clearing the interior, and it can be used to treat the symptoms of wind-heat congestion and solidity of the surface and interior, such as strong heat, abhorrence of cold, headache, redness of the eyes, dryness of the mouth, short and reddish urination (urine with small amount of volume and dark yellow color), and constipation of stools, etc. Gout belongs to the category of “paralysis” in traditional Chinese medicine.
