The first gout pain usually lasts for 3 to 7 days, and due to individual differences, patients with severe symptoms may last for about 2 weeks.
The pathogenesis of gout is not well understood, and most patients have impaired uric acid excretion or purine metabolism. Gout usually starts suddenly at night, and patients will experience pain in one or more joints, which will peak about 12 hours after the onset of the attack. The pain usually lasts for 3 to 7 days, and patients with severe symptoms will usually have relief within 2 weeks.
During an acute attack of gout, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as diclofenac or indomethacin can be applied as prescribed by the doctor, while ice packs or splinting can be used to relieve pain. Daily should avoid eating seafood, animal offal and other high purine food, drink more water, more urination.
