Why does pneumothorax keep recurring?

Pneumothorax keeps recurring, probably due to the poor quality of the lung and the presence of subpleural emphysema or pulmonary blisters in the periphery of the lung. These emphysema and pulmonary blisters appear after pneumothorax when the intrapulmonary pressure is slightly elevated, i.e., they are prone to rupture, mostly seen in young people with slow obstructive pulmonary disease and long and lean body size. After the treatment, the pneumothorax appears again after the alveoli rupture in other places, and the pneumothorax appears again, repeatedly. For this kind of pneumothorax, the pneumothorax is less likely to recur after the lung segment or lobe is removed according to the extent of emphysema and whether the extent of alveoli is limited to one lobe or one lung segment. In case of diffuse emphysema and alveoli, it is necessary to perform pleural cavity fixation to avoid recurrent pneumothorax.
