Ginseng and maitake is suitable for cancer patients who are identified as having a deficiency of qi or yin, and is not suitable for all cancer patients. Ginseng can play the role of tonifying the vital energy (replenishing the root qi of the body), so it is suitable for cancer patients with deficiency of vital energy and can achieve the purpose of assisting the vital energy, strengthening the positive qi of the body and improving the state of physical weakness. It is not suitable to be used together with Veratrum and Wulingzhi. Maitong, with the functions of nourishing yin and moistening dryness (nourishing yin essence and clearing away heat), generating fluids and quenching thirst (promoting the production of fluids to quench thirst), nourishing the stomach and moistening the lungs, etc. For cancer patients suffering from yin deficiency and lung dryness (the deficiency of yin in the human body leads to dryness of the lungs not being nourished), and gastric yin insufficiency (insufficient yin in the stomach), the consumption of maitong can alleviate the body’s discomforts. However, it should be noted that ginseng and maitong are not suitable for all cancer patients.
