If the lump is located at the back of the neck, it is considered to be a lipoma or what is commonly referred to as a rich lump. A fatty lump is not a lesion, but is formed by fat accumulation due to obesity. If the mass is located in the front of the neck, it is considered to be caused by thyroid disease, such as hyperthyroidism and thyroid cysts, which can be palpable in the front of the neck. If the mass is located on both sides of the neck, it is considered to be an enlarged lymph node, which is commonly associated with lymphadenitis or lymph node metastases. Also sebaceous cysts, which can also cause a mass to appear in the neck, are smaller and can have some mobility when touched. If a mass is found in the neck, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to improve the relevant examination to clarify the cause and take appropriate treatment to avoid delaying the disease.
